What Happens During a Wellness Exam?

When you bring your pet in, our veterinarians will perform a thorough physical assessment in which they:

• Take your pet’s weight and temperature
• Examine his or her eyes, ears, and nose
• Listen to the heart and lungs
• Ensure the lymph nodes are not enlarged or swollen
• Examine your pet’s mouth to determine his or her oral health
• Ensure the muscles, spine, and joints are in good conditions
• Apply light pressure to the abdomen to assess the internal organs

Throughout the examination, your veterinarian will record and inform you of any noticeable changes or concerning developments. We will take the time to explain any necessary steps to take, whether it’s further testing, administering a medication, or bringing your pet back for a follow-up appointment.
